The Clermont Fire Department and Fire Chief David Ezell expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and the local Firehouse Subs Clermont restaurant for awarding the department a $16,930 grant to enhance its lifesaving capabilities. This generous contribution underscores Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation’s commitment to supporting first responders and public safety organizations.
The foundation, a non-profit organization, provides a wide range of support, including lifesaving equipment, prevention education, scholarships, continued education, disaster relief assistance, and support for military veterans. Their mission is to help communities be better prepared and equipped to respond to emergencies.
Mike and David Kelly, owners of the Firehouse Subs franchise in Clermont, presented the grant announcement during a City Council meeting. The award will fund the acquisition of two HURST Strong-Arm compact extrication tools. These state-of-the-art tools provide firefighters with additional resources to respond effectively in critical incidents.
The HURST Strong-Arm tools are versatile, enabling firefighters to cut, lift, and spread various materials, including metal. These tools can break down doors, cut through rebar, security bars, and locks, and are rated for use in submersion and live-fire environments. Their compact design and multi-purpose functionality will significantly enhance the department’s rescue and extrication capabilities. The tools will be incorporated into the department’s apparatus equipment and will also support their Special Operations Team.
Special recognition was given to Mike and David Kelly for their long-standing support and advocacy for fire departments, spanning over 23 years. The Clermont Fire Department also acknowledged Lieutenant Jeremiah Plasters, Special Operations Coordinator, and Beth Carter, Special Projects Coordinator, for their collaborative efforts in preparing and submitting the grant application.
The City Council, along with representatives from the Clermont Fire Department, posed for a photo with Mike and David Kelly to celebrate the occasion.
The Clermont Fire Department’s acquisition of these lifesaving tools marks a significant step forward in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community they serve. Their gratitude to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and the local Clermont Firehouse Subs restaurant reflects the importance of partnerships that prioritize public safety and preparedness.
