The City of Mascotte proudly hosted its 2nd Annual Black History Program, bringing the community together to celebrate culture, history, and progress. The event, organized by City Manager Annamarie Reno, along with Desery Benjamin and Darlene Benjamin, was a heartfelt tribute to the significance of Black history and its impact on future generations.

Inspirational Speakers

The event featured speeches from esteemed local leaders, each delivering powerful messages of motivation and empowerment:

  •  

    Vice Mayor Barbara Gains inspired attendees with the words, “Inspire Future Generations to build brighter for a more equitable future for all.”

  • Chief Chuck Broadway challenged the audience with the thought-provoking question, “What is the change and what are we going to do about it?”
  • Mascotte City Councilwoman Robin Hughes emphasized the power of self-belief, stating, “The key to success is first to achieve it in your mind and the body is sure to follow.  The color of your skin does not establish limitations.”

Cultural Entertainment & Vendors

The program also showcased a special performance by the RIF Dancers of RIF Elite Academy from Orlando, under the direction of Takayah Norris. Their dynamic performance added an artistic and cultural depth to the celebration.

A variety of local vendors participated in the event, offering a diverse selection of goods and services:

Attendees enjoyed the event’s vibrant atmosphere with music provided by DJ Nate, who kept the energy high throughout the celebration.

The City of Mascotte’s commitment to recognizing and honoring Black history remains evident through events like these. As the community continues to grow, so does the impact of these celebrations in fostering unity, education, and inspiration for all generations.

The City looks forward to welcoming the community again next year for another meaningful celebration of Black history.
