For February 2025, the Clermont Garden Club’s “Yard of The Month” brings us to Collin Cotterell’s yard at 2638 Eagle Lake Drive in Clermont. One notices the care given to this yard as it is always changing in a variety of plants and colors. To the front left of the house is a Papaya Tree (family Caricaceae) adorned with many fruits. It looks like it has survived the recent cold very well. The colors are accentuated by those of 2 rose bushes that are in bloom. A splendid Vriesea (family Bromeliaceae) named after Dutch botanist Willem Hendrik deVriese adds a splash of color. Several Ti plants or Cordylines are scattered amongst the flower beds. Nearly hidden is a Norfolk Pine (a species of conifer and not a true pine -family Araucariaceae) and a fairly large ‘Money Tree’. Many other shrubs and plants make up this interesting yard and this is only the front! In the backyard fruit trees are in abundance, keeping Coliin very busy.
If you would like to nominate your or your neighbor’s garden to be The Yard of The Month, send an email to clermontgardenclubinc@gmail.com. Clermont Garden Club members meet monthly (September through May) at the clubhouse located at 849 West Avenue, Clermont, FL. Guests are warmly welcome to attend our meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of March and April at 9:30 am. Clermont Garden Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
