March 2025
People older and wiser than I am have long said that change is good. I sure hope they are right, as there are many changes to Clermont.
Clermont Police Chief Charles Broadway has accepted the job as Chief of the Kissimmee Police Department. We are saddened by his departure, but we are truly grateful for his 15 years with us and pray for great success as he transitions to a larger agency. Deputy Chief John Graczyk will serve as Interim Chief, and after watching him move up through the ranks from patrol officer in 2005, I have all the confidence in the world that he will do a fine job.
We have made changes to our public meetings in hopes of making it easier and more accessible for you to get involved and stay informed. Our Council meetings now begin at 3 pm (second Tuesday of each month) and 5:30 pm (fourth Tuesday of each month). In addition, Council, Code Enforcement, and Planning & Zoning meetings are live-streamed and archived using YouTube. Here is the link: www.youtube.com/@CityofClermont.
We had a great turnout of people and their K-9 friends at the annual “Pups in the Park”. The weather was perfect for this much-anticipated event that keeps getting better.
Everyone is ready for “Pig on the Pond” rescheduled to March 28 – 30 due to nasty weather. Come to Waterfront Park and enjoy all the food, games, and fellowship this annual event brings.
Also at Waterfront Park, Champions Splash Park is now open Friday – Sunday and no longer has an admission.
The 2025 Florida Legislative Session is underway and I, along with Interim City Manager Rick Van Wagner and other Council members, will travel to Tallahassee and meet with our state representatives. There are several potential bills that if passed, could have a significant impact on us locally.
If you have questions or concerns about Clermont, I hope you will stop by City Hall (Monday or Wednesday mornings) or drop by my monthly lunch (first Tuesday at different restaurants) and let me hear from you.
I am honored and remain grateful for the continued opportunity to serve as Clermont’s Mayor. I sincerely appreciate your support and depend on you to help keep me informed on community issues and concerns. As always, you can reach me at tmurry@ClermontFl.org.
Until next time,
Mayor Tim Murry
