This year’s Groveland Founders Day was filled with live music, exciting performances, food and fun events, bringing the community together to celebrate the rich history of Groveland and its founding families.

The day kicked off with a breakfast hosted by the Stuckey Community Improvement Group, after which Groveland Historical Society President Jason Brown, along with local pastors, city officials, and relatives of the Founding Families, spoke about the significance of this day and honored those buried in the historic cemetery.

A series of presentations, included:

  • The Founding of Taylorville – Presented by Jason Brown
  • The Taylor Brothers Update and the Importance of Research – Presented by Jordan Barclay
  • The Kings of Villa City – Presented by Howard King

Wilma Brown represented the Society, managing a unique table provided by the Groveland HS Alumni. Several reunion attendees later visited the Society to reconnect and reminisce about the town’s history.

The celebration also featured a special partnership with the City of Groveland Parks & Recreation, where local musician Randall Crawford led the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday” to the city.

This year’s 1st place winner of the essay contest was Dorian Givens for his essay, “The Railway Through Time”.
