A proclamation, signed by Mayor Tim Murry on April 22, 2025, underscores the importance of water as a basic and essential resource for every living creature. The declaration aligns with a statewide initiative led by the State of Florida and supported by local Water Management Districts to raise awareness about the need for responsible water use—particularly during April, a typically dry month when water demand is at its peak.
“Every business, industry, school, and citizen can make a difference when it comes to conserving water,” the proclamation states, emphasizing that collective action can help preserve Florida’s precious water resources while also promoting a healthy economy and community.
Clermont has a longstanding commitment to water conservation through educational programs and public outreach efforts. The city continues to encourage residents and businesses to adopt water-saving practices, reinforcing the message that conservation is a shared responsibility.
Mayor Murry called on all members of the community to join in the effort, highlighting the city’s ongoing support of environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.
Water Conservation Month serves as a reminder that even small actions—like fixing leaks, using water-efficient appliances, and practicing mindful irrigation—can have a lasting impact on local and state water supplies.
For more information on how to conserve water, residents are encouraged to visit the City of Clermont’s website or contact their local water management agency.
