On Friday, April 11, Montverde Academy’s Night for the Cure brought the entire community together for an evening of purpose, remembrance, and hope. This annual fundraiser supports the Greater Clermont Cancer Foundation and Cornerstone Hospice, with proceeds directly aiding those impacted by cancer.
The event, led by students Sophie Ressler ’25 and Parker Simkins ’25, under the guidance of staff advisor Mrs. Margaret Price, featured a vibrant mix of activities. Upper and Middle School clubs hosted interactive booths with games like Spin the Wheel, LEGO races, themed obstacle courses, bracelet making, arts and crafts, and lots more! Families also enjoyed a bounce house and kids’ play area, alongside a delicious variety of food options provided by our clubs. In the Heroes Tent, families shared their inspiring stories.
A touching highlight of the evening was the Lower School’s performance of two songs, including one dedicated to the memory of Luca Arnaldo, a beloved student who passed away from cancer last year. The night also featured powerful guest speeches from cancer survivors Mrs. Kristy Tubbs, MVA’s Department Chair for Visual Arts and Upper School Visual Arts teacher, and Ethan Huynh, a courageous tenth grader and varsity swimmer, who shared their inspiring stories of strength and resilience.
“NFC is a great opportunity for families to come together and celebrate those who have valiantly fought against cancer,” said senior Parker Simkins, Director of Heroes Tent.
“I’m honored to have contributed in a positive way to so many families.”
We are deeply grateful to our generous sponsors, volunteers, and families. From luminary tributes that lit the sidewalks, to event merchandise, every contribution helped make a difference.
Together, we continue to honor, remember, and fight.
