The energy was electric at Hope Preparatory Academy on Friday morning as scholars, staff, city officials, and community members came together to celebrate one of the most inspiring days of the year—College Signing Day!

Held on campus at 9 am, this joyful event marked the next chapter in the lives of HPA’s graduating scholars, who proudly announced their post-graduation decisions. Whether choosing college, trade school, or military service, each student was beaming with pride.

Located at 13806 State Road 33 in Groveland, Hope Preparatory Academy is a private, nonprofit institution with a heart for education, service, and student success.

Dignitaries including The Mayor, local city council members, and proud community supporters joined teachers and administrators to cheer on the incredible accomplishments of this year’s senior class. Among them were two standout scholars who made school history.

HPA Senior Class President Crystlin Smith has taken advantage of the Dual Enrollment program, earning college credits while still completing her high school education. Through hard work and determination, Crystlin has gotten a head start on her future, balancing the demands of high school coursework while taking college-level classes.  Crystlin’s achievements are a shining example of what is possible when students take initiative and pursue their goals early, paving the way for a bright future.

Marissa Leverston, the Class Vice President and 2025 Salutatorian, has been accepted into over 87 colleges and universities! Yes, you read that right—87! The hard work, determination, and leadership truly exemplify what it means to be a Hope scholar.

Marissa Leverston’s story is especially moving. A Summa Cum Laude graduate and the longest-enrolled student at HPA, Marissa began her journey at the academy back in 2018. Through years of perseverance, academic excellence, and meaningful volunteer work in the Groveland community, Marissa has become a shining star of the Class of 2025.

Her efforts didn’t go unnoticed—Marissa was recently honored at a Groveland City Council meeting, where she was recognized for her outstanding achievements in front of her proud grandfather and supportive HPA staff.

As she prepares to take the next step, Marissa has narrowed her college acceptances to a top-five list that includes: Louisiana State University, Florida International University, University of South Florida, Howard University (HBCU), and University of North Florida.

As the cheers rang out and proud families clapped through tears of joy, one thing was clear: These scholars aren’t just going places—they’re making history along the way.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025—you’ve made Hope proud!
