The Lake County Rowing Association (LCRA) proved once again that they are a force to be reckoned with at this year’s Florida Scholastic Rowing Association (FSRA) Sweep Championships, held over the weekend at Nathan Benderson in Sarasota. With a remarkable showing across multiple events, LCRA athletes brought home outstanding accolades that highlighted their hard work, dedication, and exceptional talent.  The Team entered 5 events with three boats going to finals and two to the Petite 1 Finals.

In a competitive field of some of the best youth rowing teams from across the state, the LCRA girls’ junior four-person boat clinched a bronze medal, showcasing an impressive display of speed and teamwork. This achievement is special given that 3 of the 4 athletes were novice rowers with less than 9 months of experience.

This achievement reflects the commitment of both the rowers and their coaches, who have spent countless hours training on the water.  The girls’ freshman four also performed admirably, winning their Petite Final and finishing ranked ninth in the state. Their journey throughout the regatta has been marked by growth and camaraderie, setting a strong foundation for future successes.

In the boy’s events, the pair (2-) made an impressive debut, winning their Petite Final, securing a rank of ninth in the state. This performance not only demonstrates the skill of the athletes but also marks a significant achievement for the LCRA boy’s rowing program.

The girls’ lightweight four (4+) crew made a significant impact, securing a fifth-place finish in the state with a combination of strength and endurance that epitomizes the excellence of Lake County’s athletes.

The boys’ lightweight four (4+) crew delivered an impressive performance, showcasing their remarkable athleticism and teamwork. Despite being a relatively young boat with only one senior leader, they fought to secure an honorable fifth place finish. Their determination and collaboration on the water were truly commendable, reflecting a bright future for the team.

“This weekend was truly remarkable for our association. The dedication of our athletes has paid off, and it shows in every race,” said LCRA Head Coach Brian Elliott.”

With a bright future ahead and promising talent emerging from the program, the LCRA community looks forward to building upon this success in the upcoming competitions.
