The City of Groveland, in partnership with the Groveland Historical Society, invites the community to join in honoring our local veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. This solemn Memorial Day observance will take place on Monday, May 26, at two historic cemeteries in Groveland.

10:00 AM – Oak Tree Union Colored Cemetery of Taylorville

11:00 AM – Greenwood Cemetery
At each location, a brief but meaningful ceremony will precede the placing of American flags on the gravesites of recognized veterans. The program includes:

An invocation to begin the ceremony

The playing of TAPS on the bagpipes, creating a moving tribute to the fallen

During TAPS, members of TOVA (The Organization for Veterans Assistance) will place a memorial wreath
-
Following TAPS, attendees are invited to place American flags at each veteran’s gravesite
The Groveland Historical Society will be on site with an informational tent, offering background and biographical details on the veterans being honored.
This annual Memorial Day tribute is a chance for the community to come together in gratitude, reflection, and remembrance. All are welcome to attend and participate in this touching display of local patriotism and respect.
