For over 46 years, the women of Beta Theta-ESA, a local service and philanthropic organization, have devoted themselves to supporting the community through acts of kindness and long-standing partnerships. One of their most heartfelt commitments has been sponsoring students at the St. Augustine School for the Deaf and the Blind—a mission that recently came full circle in a touching way.
Sara Griley, the most recent student sponsored by Beta Theta-ESA, graduated on Thursday, May 29, as the salutatorian of her class. Throughout her remarkable journey from kindergarten to senior year, Sara has faced numerous medical challenges. Through it all, she has been quietly and steadfastly supported by the women of Beta Theta, who have cheered her on every step of the way.
In a moving letter sent to the group, Sara expressed her deep gratitude for the love, care, and encouragement she received over the past 13 years. She thanked her “sponsors” for their unwavering support during her adventures through elementary and high school, sharing that their belief in her made a real difference.
Sara’s accomplishments speak volumes about her determination and talent. In the fall, she will attend the University of North Florida, where she plans to major in computer science. Her dream? To help make video games more accessible to all players, so that everyone—regardless of their abilities—can experience the magic and joy that gaming brings.
A passionate fan of video games, Sara especially enjoys the Pokémon franchise and collects both plushies and games whenever she can. She’s also a fan of anime, movies, TV shows, and horror stories—interests that fuel her creativity and drive.
As Beta Theta-ESA reflects on its legacy of service, Sara’s success is a shining example of how compassion and dedication can shape lives. The women of the organization are proud to have played a small part in her big journey, and they look forward to seeing the bright future ahead for this inspiring young woman.
