Hello Clermont Champions! June 2025

As school ends and summer officially begins, pull out your calendars and get ready to save dates for fun events and tough decisions.

Several downtown items, including parking and “Meet Us in the Middle” are on the agenda for a Council Workshop June 17 at 3 p.m. Juneteenth returns to Waterfront Park on June 21 and provides a great opportunity to celebrate our diverse community and learn about different cultures.

Red, White & Boom returns to Waterfront Park on July 4. The festivities begin at 5 p.m. and continue until 9 p.m. when fireworks will light up the sky over Lake Minneola. We will offer free shuttle rides to and from Waterfront Park, so consider parking at the Arts & Recreation Center, Lake Hiawatha Preserve, West Park, or Palatlakaha Park and let someone else drive.

As warm weather activities increase, please be responsible when on or in the water. Wear a life jacket, don’t drink and drive a boat, and keep a close eye on children. Open swim and lessons are available at the Arts & Recreation pool. The Splash Park is open every day now with free admission.

Also in July, we will ramp up the budget planning process with two Council Workshops. The budget process is never easy, and this year will pose challenges as we work hard to provide the services you need and remain good stewards of your tax dollars. Please consider attending these public meetings on July 8 and July 10, and let your Council hear from you. The July Council meeting has been changed to July 29 at 3 p.m. If you can’t attend, each meeting will be live-streamed and available for review afterwards at www.youtube.com/@CityofClermont.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me anytime you have questions or concerns. In many cases, problems can easily be resolved once our staff is made aware. You can call me at 352-638-8776, stop by City Hall on Monday or Wednesday mornings, or join us on the first Tuesday of each month for Lunch with the Mayor. We continue to have new folks join us, and I look forward to more conversation on July 1 at Mission BBQ.

I sincerely appreciate your continued support and remain honored and grateful to serve as your Mayor. As always, you can reach me at tmurry@ClermontFl.org.

Until next time,

Mayor Tim Murry
