The Kiwanis Club of Clermont is hosting its 3rd Annual Taco Fundraiser on July 19th, from 12 pm to 2 pm at Green Valley Country Club, 14601 Green Valley Blvd., Clermont.

This year’s beneficiaries are the Friendship Aktion Club at DreamPlex of Central Florida and The Miracle League of Lake County. Both organizations are dedicated to the special needs community with many of the clients participating in both organizations’ activities.

The Miracle League, a baseball league for physically and mentally disabled people of all ages, depends heavily on donations and sponsorships to maintain its ability to provide equipment and safety needs for all players to enjoy a 10-week season each fall and spring season. Games are played at Lake Idamere Park, a park equipped specifically for special needs events.

The Friendship Aktion Club is a relatively new Kiwanis Club of Clermont sponsored Aktion Club located in Clermont. The Friendship Place provides adults with developmental disabilities a safe and engaging day-time program to keep the individual active mentally and socially in a positive environment while providing respite to caregivers.

The Aktion Club members often choose service projects that provide hand-made gifts to assisted living residents in the community. They also organize donation drives throughout the year that provides care packages for less fortunate individuals that have found themselves in difficult times with either food or hygiene products.

The Taco fundraiser will include a taco style buffet complete with beverages. Tickets and sponsorship levels may be purchased online at www.KiwanisClubofClermont.org/tacos or by contacting club member Thom Battisto at 407-247-8595 or Thom.KiwanisCC@aol.com.
