Members of Beta Theta-ESA, a philanthropic organization serving the South Lake community, recently visited Building Blocks Ministries in Groveland to show their continued support for the nonprofit’s mission: empowering adults with developmental disabilities. During their visit, the organization presented a donation to aid the vital programs and services provided by Building Blocks.

Since opening its doors in 2006, Building Blocks Ministries has been a beacon of hope and empowerment for adults with developmental disabilities. The organization is committed to fostering full inclusion and participation in all aspects of community life. Through life skills training, health and wellness programs, community engagement, and social enrichment, Building Blocks helps participants achieve personal growth, confidence, and independence.

“Our programs are tailored to meet each individual’s unique needs,” says Paula Whetro, Executive Director of Building Blocks Ministries. “We want every adult who comes through our doors to dream big, believe in themselves, and achieve their full potential.”

In February 2024, Building Blocks Ministries relocated to a new multipurpose facility designed to encourage social engagement and meaningful connections. The thoughtfully designed space fosters dignity, respect, and a nurturing environment where individuals feel truly at home.

Building Blocks also provides an Adult Care Food Program, offering nutritious meals to support participants’ health and well-being. Additionally, the organization offers reliable transportation services, ensuring adults in their programs have access to essential services and community opportunities.

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Building Blocks Ministries depends on the generosity of community partners and donors to sustain its work.

“Your support helps us provide essential services—from meals and transportation to training and community integration,” says Whetro. “Because of you, we can continue creating opportunities for growth, independence, and meaningful inclusion. Your generosity truly changes lives.”
