Game Summary: The South Lake Eagles clinched the district championship on Friday night exploding on offense and defense and beating Horizon High School 54-14 giving the Eagles back to back district championships. The Eagle offense put up over 600 yards and the defense shut down the Horizon offense in the second half securing the homecoming victory. Tre Kelly threw for over 300 yards and four touchdowns as well as rushing for a touchdown. Kelly connected with senior receiver Isaiah Pina three times in the endzone and also threw a 79 yard Touchdown to Keydrick Powell to cap the scoring. Powell had another big night with 7 catches for 187 yards. Malik Holman rushed for 228 yards and 2 touchdowns as well. Kelly connected in the back of the endzone to Pina with 15 seconds left in the half to give the Eagles a 28-14 lead at the half.To start the second half the South Lake defense forced the Horizon offense to a three and out and the Eagles were in command for the remainder of the game. Defensive standouts where Julian White, Ahvioume Scott, Corey Scott, Tyson Williams, Chase Coello, Isaiah Desir, and Jesse Barker.
“ The touchdown in our two minute drill at the end of the half putting us up by two touchdowns and our defensive stop to start the second half was the difference in the game. Our defensive Coaches made great adjustments at the half and our offensive coaches called a great game. We have a ton of work to get ready for East ridge.”
