The Lake County Historical Society and Museum invites the community to a special celebration honoring the life and legacy of Hollywood stuntman Kim Kahana on Saturday, November 15, at 2 pm.

A longtime resident of Groveland, Kahana lived an extraordinary life both on and off the screen. His career as a stuntman, actor, and stunt coordinator spanned decades, with credits in numerous Hollywood films and television productions. Known for his daring spirit, skill, and dedication to his craft, Kahana’s work helped shape the golden era of stunt performance.

Among his many credits: doubling for Charles Bronson for more than 20 years, performing stunts in films such as Planet of the Apes and Smokey and the Bandit II, and appearing on TV shows including Danger Island (as “Chongo”)

Later in life he settled in Groveland, where he and his wife Sandra founded the Kahana’s Stunt & Film School on 100 acres. There Kim taught generations of stunt-performers the craft, the discipline, and the importance of safety in this high-risk profession.

He passed away August 12, 2024, at his home in Groveland at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of grit, resilience, and skill.

The celebration will feature a special display of memorabilia from Kahana’s Hollywood days, offering visitors a rare glimpse into his remarkable career and contributions to the film industry.

The event will be held at the Lake County Historical Society and Museum, located at 317 W. Main Street, Tavares.
