The community came together on Saturday, November 8, to honor the service and sacrifice of America’s military heroes during iClermont’s annual Veterans Day Parade and Tribute Ceremony. The parade filled the streets of downtown Clermont with patriotic pride and the Highlander Pavilion with heartfelt reflection, and community spirit.

The morning began with the Veterans Day Parade, which stepped off at 10 am with marching scout troops, civic organizations, and local leaders as they made their way down Montrose Street, waving flags and cheering as the crowd responded with applause and gratitude.

“Veterans Day is a time for all Americans to pause, reflect, and honor those who have stood in defense of our nation,” shared Robert Mock, a 28-year U.S. Navy veteran and member of the South Lake Florida Base of U.S. Submarine Veterans. His words captured the spirit of the day—one of appreciation, unity, and pride.

Mayor Tim Murry, a 22-year U.S. veteran, served as parade grand marshal and later delivered opening remarks at the Veterans Tribute Ceremony, which began at noon at the Highlander Pavilion. The ceremony featured stirring patriotic music, a solemn “Echo Taps” performance, an honor guard rifle salute, and a guest speaker who reminded attendees of the true cost of freedom.

“Clermont’s veterans are a source of pride and inspiration,” said Mayor Murry. “This community is grateful for their courage, sacrifice, and enduring service to our nation.”

Between the parade and the ceremony, families enjoyed a day filled with activity and camaraderie. A car show, kids’ play zone, first responder displays, raffles, and food trucks added to the festivities.

Proceeds from the event benefited Clermont’s Veterans and First Responder Memorial, ensuring that the legacy of service continues to be honored for years to come.
