Montverde Academy is proud to announce another year of exceptional performance on the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) exams. In May, MVA students demonstrated remarkable academic achievement, earning an impressive 88% pass rate, one of the highest in the state of Florida.
In addition to strong overall results, Montverde Academy saw a 27% increase in the number of AP Scholars recognized by the College Board. This year, 197 students earned AP Scholar distinctions, a significant rise from 56 in 2016, marking an astonishing increase of approximately 250% in under 10 years.
Furthermore, Montverde Academy has grown from 56 AP students in 2015-2016 to 460 in 2025. These statistics have contributed greatly to Montverde Academy being recognized as one of the most influential in the Southeast.
The AP Scholar awards honor students who demonstrate college-level mastery across multiple subjects:
. AP Scholar is awarded to students scoring 3 or higher on three or more AP exams. This year, 74 MVA students received this recognition.
· AP Scholar with Honor is awarded to students with an average score of 3.25 or higher across all exams, and scores of 3 or above on at least four exams. 42 MVA students earned this distinction, with an average score of 3.76.
· AP Scholar with Distinction is granted to students who achieve an average score of 3.5 or higher across all exams, and scores of 3 or above on five or more exams. An impressive 80 MVA students achieved this level, with an average score of 4.18.
· AP Capstone Diploma, one of the highest honors awarded by College Board, recognizes students who complete both the AP Seminar and AP Research courses and earn qualifying scores across multiple exams. Five Montverde Academy students achieved this diploma, with an average score of 3.81.
“These results reflect the dedication of our students and faculty,” said Mr. David Bernatavitz, Assistant Head of School, Upper School, and Student Affairs. “We are proud of our students’ commitment to excellence and the way they continue to challenge themselves academically through rigorous college-level coursework. Our faculty’s creativity, engagement, and professionalism are vital in nurturing this academic success. This is not just a result of the excellent instruction provided in our AP courses. It starts with the foundational teaching in reading, writing, math, and all of the subject area disciplines.”
