NJHS Historian Members of MVA’s National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) at Montverde Academy recently held a food drive for Buses n’ Backpacks, a local organization whose main goal is to help provide food to those in need. Every week, volunteers pack backpacks with nonperishable food items and distribute them to students from low-income households.

Without these backpacks or reliable access to food at home, some students may only be able to eat a healthy meal while at school. During the holidays, low-income families are presented with additional financial challenges. With Thanksgiving coming up, NJHS members wanted to help by holding a food drive. During the week of November 3-7, sixth graders brought in cans of chicken, seventh graders brought in peanut butter, and eighth graders brought in cereal boxes.
