Although Clermont High School (CHS) on East Avenue ceased operations as a high school in 1993, the legacy of the Highlanders and Hilltoppers continues 30 years later to support the next generation. Through the generosity of many former classmates, the CHS Scholarship Committee has announced up to five scholarships of $2,000 each are available to 2026 high school graduates related to CHS alumni. This scholarship now includes technical and trade schools.

Since the scholarship fund was established, a total of 24 cash awards has been presented to grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives of former CHS students. In 2025, two students were awarded $1500 each. Cadence Lamoreaux, a graduate of East Ridge High School and Connor Plummer from South Lake High School, will be attending college with the help of CHS alumni. The awards were announced at the annual ALL CLASS CHS REUNION held on the fourth Saturday of April. (www.Clermonthsalumni.org)

It is easy to apply online via the Community Foundation of South Lake website. The Scholarship Committee considers five main criteria; academics, financial need, responses to two essay questions, references, and finally, extra-curricular activities (which include school activities, sports, job related activities, and community service). This scholarship is open to all students who have a relative who attended CHS, no matter where in the US they are graduating from high school. They can apply through the website here — Scholarships – Community Foundation Of South Lake deadline March 1.

The CHS Alumni Scholarship funds are held at the Community Foundation of South Lake (cfslc.org – a charitable organization) which also provides the application oversight. The committee thanks those who have previously donated to the CHS Alumni Scholarship Fund. If you would like to contribute a one time gift, to honor of someone or as part of your estate planning, you can visit the Foundation website to find out more https://cfsl.fcsuite.com/erp/donate.
