Lake County will operate a cold-weather shelter at LifePointe Church, 3551 E. Orange Ave. in Eustis, on:
Monday, Jan. 26 (opens at 5 p.m. Monday; closes at 7 a.m. Tuesday)
Lake County will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if conditions change.
Lake County’s Office of Emergency Management is also coordinating with the Salvation Army in Leesburg to operate a daytime warming center at2605 South St., open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, and Tuesday, Jan. 27.
LakeXpress, the County’s fixed-route bus service, will provide free transportation for residents riding to the shelter utilizing the following shuttle schedule. Residents may ride LakeXpress for free to the Citizens or Ardice Transfer Centers from any LakeXpress bus stop by telling the driver they’re traveling to the cold-weather shelter.
Residents who are unable to access a LakeXpress route or reach a shuttle stop and need transportation to the cold weather shelter may call Lake County Connection at (352) 742-2612 before 2 p.m. on Jan. 26 to make arrangements.
The shelter will close at 7 a.m. and Lake County buses will be available at that time to transport residents to their regularly scheduled shuttle stops.
