Love is in the air! On Saturday, February 14 at 1 pm join the Clermont Martin Watch for an afternoon chat to learn more about purple martins, why they LOVE them, and the conservation work they do that will make your hearts soar. Alex McMichael with Clermont Martin Watch will explain the history and migration of the Purple Martin bird.
The Clermont Martin Watch is a group of conservationists and volunteers that work together to monitor and collect data for three purple martin houses on 5th and 7th street at Clermont Waterfront Park. The data is then shared with the Purple Martin Conservation Association to help them make informed decisions on conservation efforts and to stay up to date on migratory patterns and possible stressors to the species population.
The Group serves as Purple Martin landlords while the birds spend the breeding season here in Florida after migrating from South America. The season lasts from late January/early February to late June/early July.
