Nichole Smith, Montverde Academy
At the Florida Music Education Association (FMEA) Conference, Montverde Academy music educators took the stage to lead a professional development session entitled “The Impact of Collaboration Events on Our Students and Communities and Ideas to Get Started.”
Mr. Aubrey Connelly-Candelario, Ms. Kate Zeng, and Mr. Andres Villa shared their expertise with music educators from across the state, highlighting how intentional collaboration, both within schools and throughout the broader community, can create meaningful opportunities for student growth, cultural exchange, and community pride.
“Our presentation showcased how positive collaboration with colleagues and our community—arts-related or other—promotes student growth, community pride, and cultural exchange,” said Ms. Zeng. “It was a blast getting to share with other music directors how we at MVA constantly strive to create these opportunities for our students through genuine, uplifting collaboration, give them ideas to take to their own programs, and hear about ways they work together in their own schools to achieve these same outcomes.”
Montverde Academy is proud of our music faculty for their leadership and continued commitment to enriching arts education, both on campus and throughout the state of Florida.
