At Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, excellence in patient care is more than a goal—it’s a daily commitment demonstrated by its dedicated nursing staff. Recently, that commitment was exemplified as Ryan Flowers, RN, was honored with the prestigious DAISY Award, a national recognition celebrating extraordinary nurses.
The DAISY Award highlights six essential qualities that define exceptional nursing: a deep passion for patient care, genuine empathy, the ability to build trust and foster teamwork among patients, families, and colleagues, admirable personal attributes, a profound love for both patients and the nursing profession, and a spirit of selflessness.
Flowers, who serves as a clinical assistant nurse manager in the hospital’s cardiac intervention unit, earned this distinction following a heartfelt nomination that praised his compassionate and comforting care. His ability to connect with patients on a personal level, offering reassurance during vulnerable moments, left a lasting impression on both the patient and their family.
Through his actions, Flowers embodies the very essence of nursing excellence—demonstrating that sometimes the most powerful medicine is kindness. His recognition not only celebrates his individual contributions but also reflects the high standard of care provided every day at Orlando Health South Lake Hospital.
