During the recent Groveland Four Legacy event, Groveland Mayor Keith Keogh and Vice Mayor Barbara Gaines presented official proclamations to State Senator LaVon Bracy Davis and the families of Charles Greenlee, Walter Irvin, Samuel Shepherd, and Ernest Thomas. The proclamations formally recognize August 28 as Groveland Four Day of Remembrance, ensuring that the sacrifices and struggles of these men remain an enduring part of the community’s history.
