Groveland (October 1)  – Firefighters continue battling the Silver Eagle Road Marsh Fire in Groveland after the blaze rapidly expanded from an estimated 25 acres to approximately 250 acres. The fire is currently 10% contained.

The fire, located off Silver Eagle Road in Lake County, is being managed by the Withlacoochee Forestry Center of the Florida Forest Service with assistance from the Lake County Fire Rescue and other responding agencies.

Fire crews remain focused on securing the fire perimeter and slowing the spread of the blaze. Operations planned for today include:

Helicopter water drops to support firefighters on the ground. The Florida Forest Service–Withlacoochee Forestry Center Drone Team conducting aerial mapping and providing real-time visual updates to assist with fire assessment and response efforts.

Residents in the area may notice increased aircraft activity throughout the day as suppression efforts continue.

Officials are urging the public to stay clear of the fire zone and allow emergency personnel room to operate safely and effectively. Residents should also refrain from flying drones near the incident.
