Groveland recently celebrated its inaugural Founders’ Gala, an elegant evening dedicated to honoring community leaders, raising awareness and supporting the vital work of The Neighborhood Center of South Lake.
The gala transformed the venue into a 1920s-inspired experience, creating a memorable atmosphere for guests to gather, celebrate local changemakers and support an organization dedicated to serving those in need throughout the community.

More than 10 months of planning went into bringing the event to life. The evening featured live entertainment by the South Lake High School Band, under the leadership of Band Director Ryan Wright.

Gail Paschall-Brown from WESH 2 News served as the event’s hostess, helping make the inaugural celebration a special occasion.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Groveys Awards, recognizing individuals whose contributions reflect the values and spirit of a thriving community. Winners were selected by individuals from outside the Groveland community, bringing an independent perspective to the recognition process.

The inaugural Groveys Award recipients were:
- Vitality Award: Bridgette M. Bennett
- Intentionality Award: Robin Maynard-Harris
- Connectivity Award: Ashley Wright
- Knowledge Award: Jason Brown
- Heart Award: Pastor Tony McCoy
Each award celebrated a distinct quality that helps strengthen communities, from vitality and purposeful leadership to connection, knowledge and compassion.
In addition to honoring outstanding individuals, the gala provided guests with an opportunity to view and bid on auction items, with all proceeds benefiting The Neighborhood Center of South Lake. The event combined celebration with a meaningful purpose, helping raise both funds and awareness for the organization’s mission.
