Mary Helen Myers, Tuscanooga Baptist Church

Tuscanooga Baptist Church continues to take seriously the words of Jesus as expressed in Matthew 25: 35-40, in serving those in need.  This small rural church is located at 18540 Tuscanooga Road, 4 miles northwest of Mascotte (coming in from Lake County), and about 4 miles southeast of Center Hill (coming in from Sumter County).

Donations from surrounding communities have continued to pour into the church, as it has been a collection center for needed food, clothing and various supplies for recent victims of two hurricanes.

Earlier, in October, the first truckload of supplies made its way to Lumber City, Georgia.  This was followed by two trucks of supplies that headed to West Florida.

Seen in the pictures are volunteers from the church loading trucks and flatbeds ready to leave for Swannanoa, North Carolina.  On October 31, a team of volunteers left Tuscanooga Church en route to North Carolina, by way of Tifton, Georgia.  Here they met other volunteers from Tifton Missionary Baptist Church.  Together they journeyed on to Swannanoa, North Carolina.  Setting up headquarters at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, volunteers carried enough supplies to be able to provide two hot meals a day to local residents.  In addition to sharing the love of Jesus Christ with members of the community, they were also able to provide canned and packaged food, clothing, cases of water, other desperately needed supplies, such as:  cleaning supplies, first aid items, diapers, toiletries, hygiene items, blankets, bedding, etc., along with serving an estimated 1,300 hot meals during their three-day stay as seen in the attached pictures.

Volunteers also made deliveries to areas where people’s homes were destroyed, and people were living in tents (with no running water).  They witnessed catastrophic devastation!

The church wishes to thank the many who have given countless hours of volunteer time, and those who have shared vehicles, goose-neck trailers, fuel, and monetary gifts towards the relief effort.  In addition to contributions from individuals and local families, various businesses have joined in the effort.  Among them:  Cal-Maine Foods, Gardners Fresh Produce, Inc., Koncyk Automotive, Niagara Bottling, LLC, Rainbow Restaurant, Misfit Animal Rescue, Inc., and others.

Christians are called to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and to serve others in His Name.  Tuscanooga Baptist Church is grateful for this opportunity to help in meeting needs while sharing Christ, and others are always welcome to join us!
