The Kiwanis Club of Clermont hosted its 3rd Annual Taco Fundraiser on July 19 at the Green Valley Country Club, drawing a full house for a day of food, fun, and philanthropy.
This year’s event raised funds for two remarkable organizations dedicated to serving the special needs community: the Friendship Aktion Club at DreamPlex of Central Florida and The Miracle League of Lake County.
The Miracle League of Lake County is a baseball league for individuals with physical and mental disabilities. The league relies heavily on donations and sponsorships to provide equipment and ensure player safety. It offers a 10-week season each fall and spring, with games held at Lake Idamere Park—a facility specially designed to accommodate special needs athletes and events.
The Friendship Aktion Club is a recently established service club in Clermont, sponsoredby the Kiwanis Club of Clermont. It operates in partnership with The Friendship Place, a daytime program for adults with developmental disabilities. The program offers a safe and engaging environment to promote mental and social activity while providing respite for caregivers. Aktion Club members stay actively involved in the community by creating hand-made gifts for assisted living residents and organizing donation drives that collect food and hygiene products for individuals in need.
The taco buffet fundraiser was a tremendous success, with the event selling out and the venue filled to capacity. In addition to the delicious taco dinner, guests enjoyed raffles, Bingo, and a 50/50 drawing. The atmosphere was festive and family-friendly—an ideal combination for raising awareness and support for two outstanding service organizations.

For nearly a century, the Kiwanis Club of Clermont has served the South Lake community, with a mission centered on improving the lives of children and families.
