Orlando Health South Lake Hospital has been named a high performing hospital by U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in hospital rankings and consumer advice, for six categories for common adult procedures and conditions.

The hospital ranked as high performing for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes, heart arrhythmia, heart failure, kidney failure and pneumonia. High Performing ratings for medical specialties were awarded to hospitals providing care that is significantly better than the national average. The ratings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where care is provided for challenging health conditions or elective procedures.

“Providing top-tier specialty services to the South Lake community is one of our main priorities and has been a core part of our growth,” said Lance Sewell, president, Orlando Health South Lake Hospital. “The dedication of our physicians and team members to delivering the highest quality of care is the reason we have received recognition as a high performing hospital and why our patients can feel assured they are in the best hands when they come to us.”

Several Orlando Health hospitals earned Best Hospitals, Best Regional Hospitals and High Performing Hospitals, while multiple service lines were honored as “high performing” at the national and regional levels.

“As Orlando Health continues to grow and evolve, we have never lost sight of why we’re here; to provide high quality healthcare to all of our patients,” said Suzanne Worthington, chief quality officer, Orlando Health. “These distinctions demonstrate the expertise and commitment of our doctors, nurses, and other team members to the health care needs of the individuals and the communities we serve.”

In addition to this latest ranking, Orlando Health South Lake also recently earned its 14th consecutive ‘A’ grade from the Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety and transparency in the U.S. health system. It is the only Leapfrog Group A-rated hospital in Lake County, having been recognized with this honor for seven consecutive years, and is a designated Leapfrog Top Teaching Hospital.
