The City of Groveland celebrated the groundbreaking of its newest fire station on August 6th with a ceremonial “dirt toss” completed by Groveland city officials and Fire Chief Kevin Carroll.
Groveland Mayor Keith Keogh proudly spoke about the need for the new fire station in Groveland.
The new fire station, situated on land donated to the city, is scheduled for completion in early 2026. The 12,657-square-foot station, located at 19851 South Obrien Road, will be situated on 3+ acres in the rapidly growing area of US-27 and SR-19. The three-bay fire station will boast state-of-the-art amenities such as underground utilities, back-up generators in case of power loss, and the ability for future building additions, if needed.
Fire Station 3 will not only house a fire engine but will also be home to a 100-foot-capable ladder fire truck to accommodate the large industrial-sized buildings that are in the area. The new station will also house availability for future medical transport needs should plans lead that way, according to Chief Carroll.
With the implementation of the new fire station, the City of Groveland’s Fire Department will now have an Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating of 2. A fire department’s ISO rating is a determination of how well a fire department can serve its community. Departments are assigned a score between 1 and 10, with lower numbers indicating a better score. High ISO scores can increase home insurance rates in the community.
