After more than four decades serving the community, the Wendy’s location at 850 E. Highway 50 in Clermont closed its doors.

The closure follows a broader announcement made during the company’s quarterly earnings call, in which the fast-food chain revealed plans to shutter hundreds of underperforming locations nationwide. These closures are part of a strategic effort to streamline operations and replace older restaurants with more modern, profitable sites.

The Clermont restaurant has been a fixture in the community for 41 years. However, changes to State Road 50 have presented ongoing challenges. Following the road’s widening, access to the location became more difficult for customers, contributing to a decline in convenience and traffic to the site.

The closing marks the end of an era for many local residents who have long frequented the establishment.
