The Lake County Board of County Commissioners has named Jeff Foley as its new Communications Director, effective Monday, May 4.

Foley, who was hired as the County’s Communications Manager in 2024, has more than 15 years of experience in public relations, media strategy, and stakeholder engagement. In his new position, he will lead the County’s Communications team and oversee efforts to inform and engage Lake County’s more than 400,000 residents.

Since joining Lake County, Foley has strengthened media relationships, enhanced the County’s social media presence, and played a key role in communicating complex issues, including infrastructure, public safety, and environmental concerns. He has also served as the County’s lead Public Information Officer during emergency situations, ensuring timely and accurate information is shared with residents and partner agencies.
An author, Foley’s career also includes leadership roles in communications with nonprofit organizations, as well as experience as a journalist and business owner.

“Jeff has demonstrated a strong commitment to transparent, effective communication and public service,” said Lake County Manager Jennifer Barker. “His leadership and experience make him well-suited to guide our Communications team and continue strengthening our connection with residents.”
