Alan Hays, Lake County Supervisor of Elections, is pleased to announce the winners of the inaugural “I Voted” sticker art contest: Kaleah Loyd and Emily Ngo.
The contest opened in February, with students ages 9-12 and 13-18 eligible to submit artwork for consideration through the end of March. After all submissions were received, the judging panel selected the top three entries in each age category. Finalists were then provided to Supervisor Hays, who cast the deciding vote. Students were judged on theme, creativity, technique, and composition.
“The level of talent and creativity was remarkable. The judges and I had our work cut out for us. Congratulations to both Kaleah and Emily for their outstanding submissions,” said Supervisor Hays. “This contest is one way to engage future voters in our community. I’m extremely pleased with the turnout, and I would like to thank every student who participated,” Hays added.
During a reception at the Supervisor of Elections Office, Supervisor Hays presented both winners with a framed certificate commemorating their win. Attending the celebration were the students’ parents, their teachers Amy Ashley and Billye Kozlowski.
Emily Ngo is a 10th grade student at Mount Dora High School.
Kaleah Loyd is a 6th grade student at East Ridge Middle School.
Each winning design will be printed as a sticker and distributed to voters during the Primary and General Elections.
