When third graders have vision boards and a whole lot of vision, you get some pretty awesome results!

As part of their Word Study and Second Step curriculum, Dr. Steed’s third grade class took their vision boards a little deeper by exploring character traits and choosing a Word of the Year. During assembly, each student defined their word, explained why they chose it, found three synonyms, and thought about how they could put that word into action in their everyday lives.

The fun didn’t stop there! Even their basketball buddy, Oneal Delancy, got in on the action and created a vision board of his own. His word of the year was “passion.”

Students talked about setting goals, showing kindness, courage, perseverance — all reminders that big actions start with small choices and emphasizing that a vision board isn’t about what you want to accomplish: it’s about who you want to be along the way.
