The Clermont Garden’s Club goals are to educate its members about their relationship to horticulture, conservation, and the environment & community. To meet this goal, the Clermont Garden Club perform various services within the local community including at Head Start of Clermont and the Future Farmers of America (FAA) Club at Minneola High School.
Head Start is a free program for children (ages 3-5) of low income families, providing child care and comprehensive early learning at the facility located at E. Desoto St., Clermont FL. This fall,
Head Start held a festival and the Clermont Garden Club hosted an activity table where children “got their hands dirty” and potted a chrysanthemum to care for at home. Throughout the year, the Clermont Garden Club also purchase and donate flower/garden related books for the classrooms at Head Start. Garden Club members come during the school day to read the books to children.
The Future Farmers of America club maintains a greenhouse located at Minneola High School. The greenhouse had been damaged by a hurricane in recent years, but the greehouse has now been renovated. Clermont Garden Club members provided cuttings of various plants for students to propagate and grow in their greenhouse.
The Clermont Garden Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that (in addition to engaging in horticultural and gardening activities) performs various community services. The clubhouse, located at 849 West Ave, Clermont FL, is available for rentals for parties, showers, small weddings, etc. See www.clermontgardenclub.org.
