The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension in Lake County is hosting the following events and programs in June:
- Farm to Table Cooking
June 13 from 11 a.m. – noon
Long and Scott Farms, 26216 County Road 448A, Mount Dora
Learn how to prepare produce fresh from the farm. Long & Scott Farms consists of 1,200 acres producing Zellwood Sweet Corn, pickling cucumbers and both red and green cabbage, along with a variety of other produce. - Steps to Good Health (for Teens)

- UF Roots Up Series: Grow and Eat with the Mediterranean Diet

- Budgeting Basics

Participants will understand the importance of managing money to reach goals, build wealth and relieve stress. - Horse Owners Educational Workshop
June 30 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Lake County Extension Center, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares
Enjoy a hands-on educational program catering to Central Florida horse owners. Topics to be covered include pasture management, toxic weed identification, manure management and composting, complying with best management practices, feeding the equine athlete, equine nutrition myths and misconceptions, basic first aid for horse owners and disease prevention and treatment. Your $25 ticket includes lunch and a booklet of printed material.
