In a proclamation read before City Council, the City of Clermont honored the life of Aurelia Cole for her extraordinary impact on the community. Aurelia Cole, a lifelong resident of Clermont, graduated from Tuskegee University and returned to Clermont to become Dean of Students at Clermont High School, Assistant Principal at Mount Dora High School, Gray Middle School and Clermont Middle School. She became principal at East Ridge High School and served as Assistant Superintendent of Administration and safety.  She was the co-founder of South Lake Historical Society and president-elect of the Clermont Kiwanis Club.  She was an active member of New Jacob’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Aurelia passed on July 5 and is survived by her husband Pete, son Devon, daughter Danielle Green, grandchildren, family, friends and a community who cherish her memory.
