Mind Immersions, the long-awaited virtual reality entertainment center, opened on December 15. The South Lake Chamber of Commerce welcomed the business to the community at an official ribbon cutting.
Jesse Domerack, the owner of Mind Immersions Entertainment Center, said he wanted to bring something special and unique to Clermont. “We need more things to do in a growing town like this”, he explained.
He describes himself as a business guy, not a gamer or techie, but started learning about Virtual Reality (VR) years ago and found it quite interesting. As time went on and computers got faster, he said he realized that there was a real possibility that VR would take off. So two years ago, his wife, Diana and he studied the industry and got familiar with different products from manufacturers.
Jesse said he sat down one day, took out a piece of paper and drew up the first concept of a virtual reality entertainment center used as a business. Ironically enough, a friend of his, Ken Boyce, who works in the franchise industry was thinking of something very similar. They talked it over and decided to build Mind Immersions to be the most highly technical virtual reality experience on the planet! Diana and Jesse built the business and Ken will franchise it in 2019.
Jesse said he put together a great team to build Mind Immersions. He commissioned Powell Studio Architects in Clermont for our engineering and architecture, Design Studio 15 in Winter Park for interior design, The IT Store in Clermont for IT infrastructure, computers, phones and security, GP Construction in Clermont for the build-out, Talon in Orlando for our simulators, Code Firm in Orlando for programming and Main Street Bank in Clermont for financing. He praised those involved in the project, stating, “I couldn’t be more proud of them helping to deliver Mind Immersions to Clermont and making my dream come true.” Mind Immersions is now open, fully staffed, and Jennifer Blake, the store manager, is creating a great team.
