Congratulations to all south Lake County students who participated in the VEX Robotics local competitions this year. Great Job!

The VEX Robotics Competition is the largest and fastest growing worldwide robotics program.

During the school year, teams participate in competitions, which include practice rounds, skills challenges with their custom-built robots, and qualifying rounds and finals. It’s all about teamwork challenges to attain the highest score possible by stacking colored Hubs in Building Zones, removing Bonus Hubs from the Hanging Structure, and by Parking or Hanging on the Hanging Bar.

“This year there are 24 south Lake teams competing in one of the two Vex Robotics State Championship events either in Miami this past weekend or in Tampa this coming weekend, Saturday, March 10 and Sunday, March 12”, said a proud Ashley Phipps, STEM, PLTW, and Robotics Teacher at Pinecrest Lakes Academy.

The following local schools are represented in the Championships: Grassy Lake Elementary, Cypress Ridge Elementary, Minneola Elementary Charter School, Pinecrest Lakes Academy, Sawgrass Bay Elementary, Windy Hill Middle School, East Ridge Middle School, and Montverde Academy.
