It was a picture perfect launch for Mars 2020 Perseverance rover. Perseverance rose majestically from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 7:50 a.m. EDT
The spacecraft will land on Mars in February 2021 and the rover will spend, at least, one Mars year (about 687 Earth days) exploring the landing site region. The rover will explore the Jezero Crater, at the site of an ancient river delta in a lake that once filled Jezero Crater, to study the planet’s habitability, seek signs of past microbial life, collect and store samples of selected rock and soil and prepare for future human missions.
The rover also carries the Ingenuity helicopter, a technology demonstration to prove that powered flight can be achieved on Mars.
Dare To Dream: It will be years before Perseverance returns to earth and, by then, kids who dreamed of becoming space explorers will be older, wiser and may Follow Their Dream.
IT CAN ALL BE SEEN ON MARS2020
