In just a couple of weeks, the first-ever Groveland Turkey Trot will take place on Thursday, November 26th. The event presented by Sports Medicine Institute takes place Thanksgiving morning at the new Cherry Lake Park (131 Wilson Lake Parkway – Groveland, Fl. 34736) with the first group of participants starting at 7:15 am.  What a great way to burn off as many calories as possible before the bird comes out of the oven!  Participants will experience a safe and social distanced start & finish.

This unique course offers great views of the South Lake region. It is a great way to experience some of Central Florida’s natural beauty.

All participants will receive an amazing shirt & commemorative medal.  The event organizers, FloDash Events have also teamed with Lakeridge Winery which is located within a mile of the course. “The Lakeridge winery is sponsoring our overall and age group, award winners.  Adult award winners will be receiving custom labeled wines produced here in Lake County while our under 21 award winners will receive similar bottles, but filled with grape juice, rather than wine,” commented race director Brian Boylan.

The Groveland Turkey Trot isn’t just for elite runners.   This nationwide tradition will definitely be an event for the entire family!

Boylan went on “FloDash welcomes runners and walkers of all abilities. This is a family-friendly event, as are most of our events.  We will be at the finish line cheering for all of our participants, no matter what the pace. We, as a company, have always promoted family health and wellness. Holiday runs always give families a great opportunity to participate in activities, such as a 5K, together.  Thanksgiving turkey trots have almost become a part of the day’s celebration.”

Part of the proceeds from the race will be donated to the Friends of Marion Baysinger Memorial Library.  This local nonprofit organization creates and encourages public support for the libraries in and around the Groveland community.  Faith Neighborhood Center will benefit from the non-perishable collection that will help them feed local families for the Christmas holiday.
