The Champions Trail Race (CTC), which took place on Saturday, Jan. 23rd in Clermont, raised $2,320 for the South Lake branch of the Boys & Girls Club.

The first-year race was part of Clermont Triathlon Club’s initiative to make endurance sports more accessible and affordable for the community.  Members of the Boys & Girls Club along with a parent or legal guardian were invited to participate in the two-mile race for free.

CTC has asked the Boys & Girls Club to use the funds for activities or equipment related to health or fitness.

Along with the money, the Boys & Girls Club received two road bikes along with two free bicycle tune-ups donated by TREK Clermont.  Clermont Tri Club plans to help underserved youth participate in future races by working to provide necessary resources and support.

The Clermont Police Department, Sommer Sports and the City of Clermont were also instrumental in putting on the event.  In addition, the Clermont Tri Club wants to thank the following race sponsors and partners:

  • William A Suggs Memorial VFW POST 5277
  • East Ridge Middle FCA Club & ERMS Thespians
  • Henderson Bagel Company
  • Smoothie King Clermont
  • Chick-fil-A Clermont
