Oh, No! These Need To Line Dry!
Ladies, when clothes shopping, do you check labels to see if items are hand wash/line dry? And then do you think, “I can’t buy this. There is no way I have the time for that!”? Well, imagine having to hand wash everything you and everyone in your family wore! Add to that, pumping water, chopping wood, and making soap and now you have some understanding of what laundry day was like in the late 1800s and early 1900s when families from up north started settling in Clermont.
Come to the Clermont Historical Society’s Heritage Day Festival on Saturday, November 20thand try your hand at using an old scrub board. Better yet, let your spouse or the kids give it a try! That is bound to make chores and “honey-do” lists look a whole lot better.
The Festival lasts from 10 am until 4 pm and there are a lot of hands-on activities and demonstrations designed to appeal to young and old alike. Refreshments will be available to purchase and there will be several Tin Lizzies on hand.
Clermont’s Historic Village is a unique partnership between the City of Clermont and the Clermont Historical Society. Together they work to provide the citizens of our community and visitors from all over the world with the opportunity to step back in time to simpler eras when life moved at a slower pace—you know when facetime meant talking face to face with your neighbor over the backyard fence. The Heritage Day Festival strives to truly bring that to life for at least one day.
So mark your calendars right away and bring the entire family to the Historic Village on Saturday, November 20th!
