Light Orlando Seeks Volunteers for Annual Community
Closet Clean Out on April 25, 2026

ORLANDO, FL — April 20, 2025 — Light Orlando is inviting volunteers from across Central
Florida to participate in its Annual Community Closet Clothing Clean Out, a day of hands-
on service aimed at sorting, organizing, and distributing thousands of clothing donations to
individuals and families in need. The event will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, and
plays a key role in Light Orlando’s ongoing mission to restore dignity and provide practical
resources to underserved communities.

“This is more than just clothing—it’s about giving people confidence, warmth, and a
sense of dignity,” said a spokesperson from Light Orlando. “Our volunteers are essential
to making that happen.”

Volunteers Will Help By:
• Receiving and sorting donated clothing by category (men’s, women’s, children’s,
etc.)
• Folding and packaging clothing for distribution
• Filling clothing requests from local charity partners
• Loading vehicles to deliver donations throughout the region

In 2025, the Community Closet initiative made a major impact:
• Total of 56,098 new and gently used items
• 16,000 articles of clothing
• 750 pairs of shoes

All items were distributed to individuals and families across Central Florida through Light
Orlando’s network of charity partners.

A Local Perspective on Impact
Samantha Espanosa of the One Heart Foundation, one of the many organizations that
received donations, highlighted the importance of this initiative:

“We see a lot of people who are experiencing homelessness… this just helps us make
sure that even if it’s a day or two worth of clothing, we can give them something clean
and ready to go. It’s just really nice to give them this little dignity piece where they
don’t have to be in the same outfit.”

How to Get Involved
Those interested in volunteering or donating new or gently used clothing can visit
www.lightorlando.org to sign up and view a list of 10 convenient donation drop-off
locations across Central Florida.
Join Light Orlando in bringing hope, compassion, and practical help to those who need
it most.

and service by partnering with charities, churches, and government entities to connect
