Clermont Woman’s Club held its annual purse auction at its February meeting at the  Clubhouse on 655 W.Broome Street Clermont. Members shopped, collected and donated over 50 purses to be auctioned for charity.

The Clermont Woman’s Club has been contributing to various local charities since 1927 and became affiliated with the  GFWC, General Federation of Woman’s Clubs, in 1932. Fundraising events have given donations to Cooper Memorial Library, FAITH Neighborhood Center, Girl Scouts of America, the Haven of Lake and Sumter County, Moonlight Players, New Beginnings, Special Olympics, Take Stock in Children, Canine Companions, Clermont High School Scholarships, New Beginnings, Wreaths Across America, Hacienda Girls Ranch, Camp Boggy Creek, Canine Companions for Independence, Take Stock in Children, South Lake Animal League and others.

Members are preparing for the next major fundraiser, the 16th Annual South Lake Family Expo on April 7th held at the First United Methodist Church on 7th St and Hwy 50.  Vendors are welcome to call Pearl at 352-394-0250 to reserve a table.  Admission is free and a great opportunity to meet your local merchants and physicians with seminars, and door and raffle prizes throughout the day (10 to 2 pm).

New members are welcome to come to the Clermont Woman’s Club Clubhouse for meetings on the first Tuesday each month at 12:30  held with refreshments and interesting guest speakers. For information see www.ClermontWoman’sClub.org.
