Clermont City Clerk Tracy Ackroyd Howe announced that the candidates below have officially qualified to run for the following Clermont City Council seats:

Seat 1: Timothy Bates

Seat 3 (Mayor): Gail Ash, Jack Kruse and Keith E. Mullins

Seat 5: Ebo Entsuah and Diane Travis

Bates has qualified unopposed, therefore there will not be an election required for that seat. He is currently the incumbent for Seat 1.

Three candidates have qualified for Seat 3, requiring a primary election on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018. In the event one of the candidates in the primary election receives a majority of the votes cast, that candidate will be declared elected and the seat will not be on the ballot for the general election. However, in the event no candidate receives a majority of the votes, the two candidates for whom the highest number of votes were cast shall stand for election at the

Nov. 6 general election.

The candidates for Seat 5 shall appear on the Nov. 6 general-election ballot.
