Instead of a sleigh, members of Beta Theta, a chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, packed their cars with gifts and headed to their traditional visit to Leisure Manor, an assisted living facility in Minneola.

Each year for decades, as the holiday approaches, the manor’s residents prepare their holiday wish lists.  The lists are collected and sent to Santa’s Helpers, Beta Theta members.

Every Beta Theta member selects the name of one of the manor residents and attempts to fulfill his/her wishes.  The lists include a variety of wishes…gift cards, sweets, CDs, clothes, shoes, colognes.

Some wishes are difficult to provide but Beta Theta does its best.

Since Beta Theta-Clermont was chartered nearly 40 years ago, it has remained active in the community. Last year its members, a group of 21 women, raised more than $17,000 at its major fundraiser, a Mardi Gras celebration.  All proceeds were contributed to local high school scholarships and not for profit organizations.

This season, Beta Theta is hosting its 15th Annual Mardi Gras Celebration on Saturday, February 23 at Clermont Performing Arts Center.  The members are looking forward to your support and assistance in giving back to the community.
