Guests at Mardi Gras

Beta Theta, ESA has held local community fundraisers since 1979.  For the past 14 years, Mardi Gras has been Beta Theta’s major fundraiser.  Last year, the evening event raised more than $17,000 with all proceeds contributed to local organizations and scholarships.

Lou’s Place, an elderly care facility, was one of the organizations that Beta Theta selected to fund through the money raised during last year’s successful event.

Some of the other organizations that Beta Theta was able to support were Boys and Girls Club, Building Blocks Ministries, Cooper Memorial Library, Faith Neighborhood Center, Haven of Lake and Sumter, Head Start, Leisure Manor, Horses with a Mission, Hospice of Lake and Sumter and Greater Clermont Cancer Foundation.

Over $4,500 was awarded in scholarships to East Ridge, Lake Minneola, and South Lake High Schools as well as South Lake Hospital. Beta Theta has also provided donations to other organizations that impact the South Lake Community including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Easter Seals and Ronald McDonald House, Florida School for the Deaf and Blind at St. Augustine, Wreath Across America.

Save the Date: This year Beta Theta will be hosting its 15th Annual Mardi Gras on Saturday, February 23 at Clermont Performing Arts Center.  Tickets are $50 a person, which includes a dinner/dance, silent auction, costume contest, and door prizes.  All proceeds benefit local high school scholarships and local charities.
