Residents of Dora Pines visit Historic Village in Clermont

submitted by Donna DiGennaro, South Lake County Historical Society

A group of eleven ladies from the Dora Pines community in Mt. Dora, and one understanding husband visited Clermont’s Historic Village on Friday, January 25th.  They were guided through the buildings by volunteer members of the South Lake County Historical Society dressed in period-appropriate costumes.  Many of the ladies were thrilled to see items that they recalled from their childhoods.  Why don’t you come by the Village and see if you too can take a walk down memory lane while you learn about life in Clermont 100+ years ago?

The Village is open every Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.  If you have a group that would like to visit the Village but those hours will not work for you, call 352-432-3496 to arrange for a private tour.  Admission to the Village during regularly scheduled hours is free (a $2.00 donation per person is requested) however, there is an individual fee for private tours.

Conveniently located at 490 West Ave. on the shores of beautiful Lake Minneola, the Historic Village is a unique partnership between the city of Clermont and the South Lake County Historical Society that is dedicated to informing the citizens of Central Florida and beyond about life in Clermont from the late 1800’s until the end of World War II.  Just a few short blocks from the Historic Downtown Shopping District, the Village is the perfect place to spend an afternoon. After touring the Village and shopping downtown, please like us on Facebook or mention us on Yelp.
